New specialized expertise bring elevated member experience to food and beverage and golf course quality.
The Muttontown Club announces the hiring of three key positions: Beryl
Pearmund as clubhouse manager, Ted Steffensen as golf course
superintendent, and Ethan Haveman as assistant superintendent.
“Bringing the specialized resources of
these highly qualified individuals reinforces our commitment to bring a
superior experience to our members,” says Friedrich Eder, general
manager and chief operating officer, The Muttontown Club.
As clubhouse manager, Beryl Pearmund
brings more than 25 years of experience in the culinary arts, most
recently serving as clubhouse manager for Desert Mountain Club in
Scottsdale Ariz., a member-owned private golf club. Prior to Desert
Mountain she worked for The Phoenician Resort and the Fairmont
Scottsdale Princess, where she held management positions in restaurants,
banquets and events planning departments. Born and raised in Brighton,
England, Pearmund attended culinary school and worked in the field prior
to moving to the United States in 1985.
Ted Steffensen, a native of Long Island,
has joined The Muttontown Club as golf course superintendent. With more
than 15 years of experience in successfully managing golf operations and
maintenance, Steffensen has an extensive background in agronomy and a
degree from SUNY Delhi in turfgrass management. Joining Ted on the golf
course maintenance team is Ethan Haveman, who grew up farming in rural
Iowa. After obtaining his degree in turf management at Southeast
Technical Institute, he worked at Oakland Hills Country Club in Detroit,
Mich., which was highlighted by the club’s hosting of the 2008 PGA
Championship.
The Muttontown Club’s 18-hole, Alfred H.
Tull-designed golf course stretches more than 6,500 yards, and features
intricate greens and a double-sided driving range. With plenty of
opportunity for competitive and casual play for men and women alike, the
golf course is impeccably maintained. Other amenities include an
engaging social calendar, and a tennis and free-form pool complex with
kiddie playground. Although it is typical for clubs in the area to close
(or substantially restrict services) over the winter, The Muttontown
Club is open 12 months of the year, provides high quality dining at fair
prices, and has an indoor golf simulator for year-round enjoyment.
